Mystery Magenta Slime on Isolated Tasmanian Beach Raises Concerns of Likely Phytoplankton Proliferation
Authorities in the island state are striving to determine a magenta ooze that has surfaced on a remote shoreline, with some scientists worried it could be an algal bloom.
Broad Occurrence Across Beaches
The magenta-hued slime was found on a stretch of a southern bay about 60km south of the capital. A like substance has also been recorded on areas of Little Roaring Beach and Little Taylors Bay.
